Go GREEN and save some too!

Central Rural Electric Cooperative is introducing a suite of new programs to help our members save energy and, in turn, save on their electric bills.   The programs include appliance rebates, energy efficiency loans, pre-pay and more.

Efficient Lighting

Switch to CFLs and save!

An average household dedicates 11 percent of its energy budget to lighting. Compact fluorescent light bulbs use 75 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs and last up to 10 times longer. They can save your home's lighting energy use up to 75 percent.

 Efficient Appliances

CREC is offering appliances rebates to our members.

Appliances can account for 13 percent of the monthly bill and water heating can add another 16 percent for a total of 29 percent. Energy efficient appliances use from 10 to 50 percent less energy than standard models. Therefore, CREC is encouraging members to replace their older inefficient appliances with EnergyStar appliances.

CREC is offering rebates to members for the replacement of inefficient electric appliances or for new construction. All rebate requests must be accompanied with receipts and a rebate application. Water heater rebate applications must include the manufacturer label of the electric tank being replaced, and tankless water heaters are not eligible for this program. Rebates offered are as follows: $50 for electric water heaters, $100 for EnergyStar clothes washer, $50 for EnergyStar dishwasher, $50 for high efficiency window air conditioner, $150 per ton for air source heat pump, and $750 per ton for ground source (geothermal) heat pump.  Some restrictions apply, so contact CREC at 405-372-2884 to apply for a rebate.

Energy Audits

CREC is providing free home energy audits for our members.

According to the Department of Energy, "A home energy audit is the first step to assess how much energy your home consumes and to evaluate what measures you can take to make your home more energy efficient." Through an energy audit, problem areas may be identified and when corrected will save both energy and money. Energy audits range from simple do-it-yourself audits to comprehensive audits performed by professionals.

CREC will offer different levels of energy audits based on member needs. For more information on energy audits or to schedule an energy audit for your home, call 405-372-2884.

Thermal Envelope

Improve your home and receive up to 50 percent reimbursement.

Weatherization of the thermal envelope will include addressing the issues concerning attic and wall insulation, windows, doors, storm doors, radiant barriers, caulking and weather stripping. Weatheriziation helps reduce heat loss and heat gain, thus allowing for small sized heating and cooling units, lower utility bills, increased comfort in the home by reducing drafts. Upon completion of any recommended improvements, members can provide CREC with invoices documenting the work. The member will receive an incentive of up to 50 percent of the cost of the recommended actions. Some restrictions apply, call CREC at 405-372-2884 to learn how you can improve your home's thermal envelope.

 Loan Program

CREC is offering Energy Efficient Improvement (EEI) loans to members.

EEI loans are available to CREC’s membership to update and improve the efficiency of their primary residence.

Members may obtain a loan application from CREC or BancFirst Stillwater, and must submit them to BancFirst Stillwater only. BancFirst typically responds to customers within 24-48 hours after receipt of application. Once loans are closed, cutomers not residing in Stillwater can make payments at any BancFirst location.

Loan funds may be used to finance the cost of material and labor for:

Central heat pump systems

  • Central air conditioning systems

  • Storm and thermal windows
  • Thermal doors
